Performing at the Royal Albert Hall is a dream come true for many musicians, and for Katherine Rockhill, it was no different. As a highly accomplished pianist and Musical Director, Katherine had performed in many venues throughout her career, but the Royal Albert Hall is one of most incredible venues she had ever performed in.
In December 2022, Katherine was privileged to be performing alongside the renowned Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins for her ‘Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall’ concert. The concert was a huge success, with an incredible line-up of guest performers including the legendary Sir Cliff Richard.
During the concert, Katherine was seated on the piano only a few feet away from Sir Cliff Richard as he sang his famous hit ‘Saviour’s Day’ with Katherine. The orchestra wasn’t required to play in this number, so Katherine was able to fully enjoy their performance. For Katherine, being in such close proximity to a musical icon like Sir Cliff Richard was a surreal and magical experience. Although she was not one for being star struck, she couldn’t help but feel awe-inspired.
Performing at the Royal Albert Hall with such esteemed musicians was an unforgettable experience for Katherine. The venue’s grandeur and reputation, coupled with the incredible talent of the performers, made it a night to remember. As Katherine looks back on her career, she counts this performance as one of her most treasured memories.
